Real-Time Ethernet Solutions for Field Devices
Ethernet and other IT protocols enable the efficient and bi-directional exchange of data between automated production departments. Different standardized protocols reflect the variety of needs here. Manufacturers of field devices must therefore support several communication protocols. Softing offers a number of optimized solutions for this.
If the field device already has an Ethernet connection, then porting the protocol software adds the necessary communication functionality.
The advantage of using an FPGA is that it can be adapted to special requirements while protecting know-how and keeping costs low. With an FPGA, existing devices can be enhanced to include communication functionality, while new devices can have a powerful, extendable communication interface integrated right from the start. An FPGA can be directly integrated into a field device. Alternatively, a communication module (Fieldbus Kit, FBK) can be used.
