Gentle Migration to OPC Unified Architecture

OPC Unified Architecture (UA) is the next-generation technology from the OPC Foundation for secure and reliable transport of data from the shop floor into the ERP system. After more than four years intensive work, the UA specification is nearly finalized. Softing AG has established a migration strategy allowing OPC manufacturers to migrate easily to the new OPC architecture.

The OPC Toolbox is a suite of 20 toolkits for developing OPC clients and servers for Windows, Windows CE, Linux and other operating systems. Version 4.20, the latest version of the OPC Toolbox, has a redesigned and leaner programming interface. OPC products (DA, AE, or XML-DA) that are based on Softing's OPC Toolbox 4.20 can effortlessly migrate to OPC UA using the same programming interface and the according UA extensions.

As a result, the latest version of the OPC Toolbox has effectively unified innovation leadership and investment protection.
