EDIC interface

Connecting the PC to a vehicle bus
Whereas a few years ago it was no problem to connect a test system to ECUs in the vehicle using simple level converters, the advent of modern bus systems has changed this considerably. Today, vehicle communication protocols generally require intelligent interface boards to connect the PC to vehicle buses.
EDIC for flexible implementation in your application scenario

The EDIC product family makes a generation of modern hardware interfaces available which enable fast, safe and active communication between the test system and the ECU. Monitoring, for supervision purposes and for analyzing current connections, is also possible. The number of protocols and bus physics available in EDIC make it possible for EDIC to be used flexibly in virtually every application scenario.

EDIC products are available in lots of different forms to ensure they can be adapted perfectly to the relevant application. Communication with the ECUs is always handled in exactly the same way - regardless of whether the system in Engineering is connected via a USB interface or whether a PCI board is required in Testing.

Your particular advantages with Softing
  • Guaranteed time response thanks to protocol handling in the interface, independent of the PC operating system.
  • Uniform communication response regardless of the type of hardware selected.
  • Adheres to standards - from the communication protocols via ECU data descriptions to API.
  • D-PDU API software according to ISO 22900-2 allows integration in diagnostic applications and MVCI systems.
  • Easy to configure and operate.
  • Several EDIC interfaces can be operated in the system network for applications in which lots of bus systems are used together.
  • Automatic recognition of communication errors; can be configured using communication parameters which are easy to modify.
Typical areas of implementation
  • ECU diagnostics
  • Flash programming
  • Acquisition of measured values
  • Residual bus simulation
  • Monitoring
